Patience

Patience
Calico Domestic Shorthair Female
Born:
July 25, 2005 (approximately)
Patience was an abandoned pregnant stray that I found near the building I work in on Penn State’s campus. Other than her bulging belly, she was very underweight. She also had fleas, worms, and severe diarrhea, but she was an extremely friendly and loving cat that I felt so sorry for her.
She went straight to the vet where she was estimated to be two years old, so I celebrate her birthday as two years to the day before I took her in. She was treated for all her ailments and kept in my bedroom which I had set up for her to deliver her kittens. She earned her name because she would be waiting for me on top my dresser, which was right next to the bedroom door, every time I left the room.
Despite having a kittening box set up for her, she decided one morning to have her litter on ME. She jumped on me early one morning, waking me up, and I noticed she was in labor and had a head sticking out. I immediately put her in the box where she continued having her six kittens.
Having raised her litter and found homes for all but Flower, who is with me to this day, Patience was spayed and, during her surgery, it was found that she was full of beebees, so not only was she flung to the wind but she had been shot at as well. =(
Despite her awful past, Patience is the most loving cat I have known, she is a total lap cat. She comes to me when I whistle, loves to be petted, lets me pick her up and flip her over and do whatever I want to her, and is the only cat the doesn’t hide when people come over. Rather, she is right in the middle of the company, meowing for attention!
